Our directors have more than 50 years’ combined experience working in the care sector. They have pooled their knowledge, expertise and passion for the sector to create the Sandstone Care Group.
Supported by high quality staff and a fantastic management team, they have a proven track record in successfully developing and running care homes.
Having spent many years operating and managing care homes throughout the UK on behalf of others through our management company Caresolve, we are excited and privileged to have the opportunity to utilise the vast experience we have gained to operate our own homes, as the Sandstone Care Group.

Our vision is to rapidly develop a fantastic, unrivalled reputation for delivering exceptional standards of care.
In 2020, we opened The Oaks Care Home. a purpose-built, 73-bed luxury nursing and residential home in Newtown, Powys.
We then added three existing care homes – St Helens Hall, Longridge Hall and Fleetwood Hall – to our portfolio of homes.
We welcomed a second new care home in Merseyside to the Group in 2021. Oak Springs in Wavertree, Liverpool, offers a mix of residential, dementia and early onset dementia care across three floors.
Our next purpose-built luxury care home was Ribble Court in Much Hoole, near Preston. Our high quality and purpose built home offers a mix of luxury residential, dementia, bariatric and specialist/complex nursing care.
We then welcomed Telford Hall to the group in 2022. A luxury, purpose-built care home which combines extensive facilities and beautiful rooms with the priority to deliver the best possible resident-focused care.
Burscough Manor joined Sandstone Care in March 2023 and Priesty Fields in November 2023, both offering luxury residential, dementia and specialist/complex nursing care, provided in a friendly, safe and secure environment.
OUR DIRECTORS
Ben Challinor
Ben is a vastly experienced senior care professional with a successful career history spanning over 27 years within the care sector. He has worked at all levels within care, from Care Assistant to Registered Manager to Director.
He has worked across numerous client groups, including older people, people living with dementia, children’s services, learning disabilities and people living with mental health issues.
During Ben’s career, he has worked successfully in partnership with numerous Operators and Home Managers to enhance care standards within their care homes.
He is also highly adept at liaising effectively with the Care Quality Commission (CQC) and has developed excellent relationships with countless local authorities and their commissioning teams across the UK, to bring about change where necessary.
James Parkin
James directs all non-care related operational aspects of the business, to include HR & recruitment, marketing & PR, facilities management and supplier relationships.
Together with Ben, James has extensive experience in managing multi-site operations and has a proven track record in implementing key objectives and supporting managers to achieve business goals.
He also has over 20 years’ recruitment experience, including 8 years working at director level in the health and social care sector.
In addition to overseeing the operational management of the homes, James has joint responsibility with Richard and Ben for business strategy and the ongoing growth of Sandstone Care Group.
Richard Shore
Richard is Sandstone’s Finance Director. An experienced and commercially focused FD and Chartered Accountant, he has over 20 years’ experience working in the Social Care sector and within a practice environment.
Highly experienced in dealing with the day-to-day aspects of running a complex, multi-site care business, Richard has significant experience of dealing with all aspects of business acquisitions through to completion, as well as successfully overseeing efficient and effective finance teams.
